Guitar Lessons

I teach private guitar lessons from my home studio and, separately, group classes at Old Town School Of Folk Music. The information here applies only to my home-office lessons. For OTSFM info, do please visit their website.

I take a fun, individualistic approach to guitar lessons, encouraging my students to choose which songs we work on. I find that this keeps students engaged (and practicing!), and that every song has some new technique or idea to teach us. Students age 13 and up are welcome, at all skill levels. If you’re looking to get started or to take your playing up a notch, or just need to be held accountable for practicing, I can promise a constructive, positive approach! One-hour weekly lessons are recommended; package deals and gift certificates are available.

  • $50 for a one-hour private lesson.
  • Prepaid packages of four lessons (to be scheduled at any time) are available for $175 (or $44 per one-hour lesson).
  • Gift certificates are available; just email me. Developing musicianship makes a great gift!

  • If a student cancels a lesson less than 24 hours beforehand, and no other time can be scheduled that week, the student is responsible for payment of that lesson.
  • If I cancel a lesson less than 24 hours beforehand, and no other time can be scheduled that week, the student’s next lesson is free. See how that works?
  • Students arriving late to a lesson may be held to the original finishing time.
  • Lessons are conducted at my home studio in the Ravenswood neighborhood of Chicago. Sorry, no house calls. If you aren’t able to bring your guitar to a lesson, you can use one of mine (right-hand models only).

Since 2011 I’ve jumped back into songwriting, and brought decades of experience to bear on songs that are thoughtful, fun, endearing, dirty, or any combination thereof. I perform my songs solo (recently opening for Lisa Loeb in Chicago), and with The Chris Corsale Band. The band is Greg Nergaard on bass, Anne Hamilton Katzfey on vocals, Bob Garrett on drums, and Dr. Andrea Bunch on vocals and keys and guitar. Here’s a clip:

I perform regularly as a solo acoustic act at weddings, parties, bars, restaurants, and the occasional marriage proposal. With more than a thousand gigs under my belt and a huge book of cover songs (and a smaller book of originals), I have a knack for reading any room and being able to entertain with the right mix of solid choices and wise risks. My acoustic one-man-band act ranges from the Beatles to Beyonce; Sinatra to Timberlake; Adele to Zeppelin.

Past clients have remarked:

“[Chris] was absolutely incredible to work with throughout the process and just a huge talent on the day. We couldn’t believe our ears!”  – Katie S., happy bride

“Chris can keep crowds entertained with hours of popular and obscure songs and he makes it hard not to smile and sing along. What Chris brings to the table is a deep-rooted love of music and the sincere pleasure of sharing that with everyone that will listen and he does it with professionalism, sweet vocals, and musicianship to be envied. Hire Chris Corsale once and I guarantee you will hire him again and again.” -Tony P., band leader

“Thank you for doing an awesome job at our wedding! You were such a hit and we had so many of our friends and family remark that you did a great job and that it put a very personal touch on our big day.” -Bethany W., happy bride

“Not only was Chris a huge hit at the party Saturday night, but he was much more importantly a true gentleman, a great guy, and a wonderful entertainer.” -Matt B., party host

“Chris is a top notch guitarist, arranger, musician, and human. He knows his way around the instrument far better than most players and also knows the value of a note not played. He will show up on time, act like the professional he is, and deliver a great performance.” -Joe A., band leader

The Right Now

I play guitar and sing backup with The Right Now, a Chicago-based soul and pop band. The sound ranges from throwback soul a la Aretha, The Impressions, etc. to newer-school sounds like Maxwell or Alicia Keys. Together since 2007, the group has toured much of the US and released two albums and a handful of singles including two official Record Store Day releases. The band has opened for George Clinton & Parliament, Fitz & The Tantrums, Bettye Lavette, Lee Fields, the Jayhawks, Soulive, Lettuce, Chali 2na of Jurassic 5, and many others. We’ve been featured as favorites in USA Today,, MySpace Music, and, have performed on WGN-TV, and our song “He Used To Be” is featured in the PS4 video game Watch Dogs. We’ve had songs featured in 90210 and in CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. Listen and browse at
